Why do Rap Concerts Suck?

How many truly-memorable rap concerts have you ever been to? Not underground shows at small venues, but arena-sized performances?

I’m guessing the number isn’t high, certainly not in the double digits. In fact, I’ll bet if you held up one finger for every great mainstream rap show you’ve seen, it would only take one hand.
You’re not alone. It’s clear most people don’t like big hip hop shows, because barely anybody goes to them. In fact, of the top ten grossing concert performers in 2008, not a single one of them was a rapper. Number one was Bon Jovi, followed by Bruce Springsteen, Madonna, The Police, Celine Dion, Kenny Chesney, Neil Diamond, Spice Girls, Eagles and Rascal Flatts.
We know hip hop is popular, of course, because rap records continue to dominate when it comes to sales. But the average person would rather see a rock, pop or country act perform than a rapper.
Why is that?

One of the guys on the original Power Rangers Show was just sentenced to death:

Actor SKYLAR DELEON has been sentenced to death for murdering Arizona couple TOM and JACKIE HAWKS. The former child star and Mighty Morphin’ Power Rangers regular has been convicted of chaining the couple to the anchor of the luxury yacht they were trying to sell him and throwing them overboard in 2004. Their bodies have never been found. Deleon then claimed the boat as his own. His lawyer pleaded for a life sentence, but the jury chose to serve up the most severe penalty. Orange County Superior Court Judge Frank F. Fasel imposed the death sentence recommended on Friday (10Apr09). DeLeon was also convicted in the 2003 killing of Jon Jarvi
